After a short pause to reevaluate and revamp, The Democracy Group (TDG) is so excited to announce the return of our Podcast Fellowship! Applications are now officially open for fall 2025.

The fellowship is a 6-week remote program for Gen Z leaders who want to start a podcast and build an audience to strengthen democracy by engaging diverse viewpoints and bridging political divides. The fellowship draws upon the expertise of TDG, a network of podcasts focused on democracy, civic engagement and civil discourse. We provide world-class training, an incredible community and a high-quality recording kit to get started.

By the end of the Fellowship, students will have:

✔️ Launched a podcast: Spend 6 weeks diving deep into how to start a podcast. Navigate the complexity of starting and growing a podcast with self-paced courses, intimate workshops, peer editing, distribution and growth frameworks and much more.

✔️ Developed their unique voice: Throughout the program, work with your peers and TDG mentors to unleash your unique civic voice to build a brighter future for our democracy.

✔️ Started growing an audience of changemakers: Learn the strategies and tactics that have helped the best podcasters in the space build audiences who will support you in your journey to make change.

✔️ Learned how to engage diverse perspectives: The fellowship will include lighting talks and coaching sessions from thought leaders across the political spectrum.

Some notable changes from the previous fellowship:

📍 You'll have access to a library of self-directed courses in addition to live workshops to maximize time and flexibility.

📍 The program is shortened from 10 weeks to 6 weeks with specific and tailored content.

📍 More support from our constantly growing network of hosts, producers and democracy leaders.

Applications are due on Sept. 30. We're looking for the next group of Gen Z leaders who are passionate about producing a podcast, bridging political divides through meaningful discourse, and strengthening democracy. If this sounds like you or a young leader you know, check out the fellowship!

The program is supported by a gift from the Bridge Alliance, a coalition of more than 100 organizations dedicated to strengthening American democracy. Podcasts produced by fellowship participants will be shared across The Democracy Group’s podcasts and on The Fulcrum, a democracy-focused news site run by the Bridge Alliance.

Visit democracygroup.org/fellowship to learn more about the fellowship and access the application.
